20Islam, Democracy and Human Rights in Contemporary Indonesiaefforts have been introduced to Indonesian National Police,Judge, immigration and Prison Officials in the field of humanrights. This effort enables the police and other law enforces torespect and protect human rights of all citizens while performingtheir duties including detaining, arresting, and investigatingcitizens, etc. Last year under the Directorate General HumanRights Protection, about 10,000 police have been trained in theareas of human rights, and this year it will be increased to cover15,000 police with the priority at conflicting areas. Through thisapproach, by the 2005, most of police and other law enforceswill have sufficient background on human rights.[]
