50Islam, Democracy and Human Rights in Contemporary Indonesiaprogress in the economic achievements, the crisis will continue. The immediate political changes will soon have the effects onethnical problems, which at least will effect also religioussentiment, although it is to simple to say that we generalize theproblem as Muslims and non Muslims. The difficult problemin Aceh for example, does not involved the problem of Muslims and non-Muslims, but the problem of inequality of regionaland provincial development, between in the central Governmentand the provinces, besides ethnical problem of Aceh - non Acehin connection with the political and economical opportunitiesin the province. As we well-informed, there is a group in Aceh,The Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (Aceh Independent Movement) that struggles for separation of Aceh from the part of Indonesianterritory and try to establish a new independent state in theregion. The central government has take efforts and work hardto solve the problem of Aceh peacefully, and try to minimizethe uses of military forces in combating the rebels. TheParliament has adopted the special autonomy law for theNanggroe Aceh Darussalam, and implement the new policy tothe more balance and more acceptable of revenue sharingbetween the central government and provincial government ofthe Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. In general, the currentsituation in Aceh is getting better than before. The similar phenomena in Irian Jaya also involved ethnicaland religious sentiment, besides the core problem of inequalityof economic development and opportunity for the local ethnicgroups in Irian. The central government still continue and takeall possible effort to solve the Papuan problem in Irian. Thestatus of special autonomy in Irian %u2013 the same policyimplemented in Aceh %u2014 will be implemented as soon as possible
